Last week while I was home dying wool I had a call from my daughter. ” I think something is happening “. “Ok, I’ll change and head down.”

I quickly looked at the wool that was in 2 different pots. I had been trying to dye some blues of different values for a background sky I am working on.

Well, I decided to combine both in one pot. They were almost done anyway and I didn’t have time to mess around. My daughter would soon be delivering her second child and I lived 1 1/2 hrs away.

Several hours later, Lucy was born. I returned home, briefly, looked at the wool, drained the very clear water and had this as a result. Not bad, in fact it is working out quite well in this rug.

Lucy blue, I could never duplicate it. It is one of a kind, just like Lucy will be.

I hand dye all of my wool in small batches in my Maine home kitchen. Each color is unique to my process. All hand dyes are different for different makers. The pots used, the water, the dyes and combination of dyes make for unique colors for each individual hand dyer.

"Wonderfully hand dyed colors. So pretty I almost don’t want to cut into them…but just sit and sigh at the softness of the wool and beautiful muted tones…. Fast Shipping and a very pleasant transaction!"
